Does growth depend on nutrition? Child growth: what does it depend on and what should it be? What can growth hormone

Opinion on how old a man grows varies greatly. Scientists have found that human growth is uneven, in different years of life at different rates. The non-linear growth rate is explained by the fact that in the process of development, hormones responsible for growth are produced in different volumes.h

The work of the thyroid gland has a great influence on the growth. With its improper functioning, a person can both remain low and grow very high, and this will be accompanied by problems associated with internal organs and the cardiovascular system.

In this article we will talk about how old men grow. Also here you will find information on how to increase your height, and for what reasons the increase in height can be delayed or stopped.

Why are we growing?

  • A special somatotropic hormone (otherwise “growth hormone”) helps a person grow. This substance allows the body to stretch linearly, i.e. grow in height.
  • Under its influence, the tubular bones of the limbs lengthen, which is why we become taller.
  • The highest concentration of growth hormone is observed in the human body at a transitional age, and then the level of this substance gradually decreases.

periods of human growth

The most important period of intensive growth is intrauterine development. In the womb, a man from a tiny droplet grows in 9 months to a length of 51-52 cm.

In the first year of life, the child grows on average by 24 cm, then growth slows down somewhat. Every year the baby adds less and less centimeters.

An active growth surge occurs in girls at 11-13 years old, and in boys at 12-14 years old. This is the age when puberty occurs and growth hormone actively begins to “work”. During this period, teenagers can add up to 12 centimeters over the summer.

By the age of 15, girls practically reach their peak and no longer add centimeters in height, while boys, on the contrary, after 15 years, begin to actively catch up with their grown-up peers. The active growth of boys ends by the age of 18-19. However, some people still continue to grow beyond the 20-year milestone. Growth gain is usually small and finally stops by the age of 27.

What determines human growth?

Scientists have proven that several important factors directly affect human growth:

  • Heredity (if in several generations family members were tall, then their descendants are likely to be rather big).
  • Racial-ethnic group (for example, some Asian peoples in their mass are not tall, and Africans are often very tall and strong).
  • A person's height can change throughout the day. In the morning we are all 1-2 centimeters taller, and lower in the evening. This is explained by the fact that during the night the spine is stretched, and during the day the intervertebral discs settle, and by the evening the person becomes a little lower.

Years also take away centimeters of growth from people. Starting from the age of 50, a person loses 1 cm of height every decade. Such a decrease is associated with the loss of elasticity of the spine and its gradual curvature.

Can you change your height?

The impact on human growth can be of 2 types: surgical and physiological.

The surgical method is a radical way to increase growth. During the operation, the bones are lengthened using special devices. The method gives a visible result, but requires a long rehabilitation.

Physiological ways to increase growth are the use of special simulators, daily physical exercises to stretch the spine. Also, a balanced diet and the use of biological additives will help to add the necessary millimeters of growth.

All of our humanity is gradually "growing". For 200 years, the average man on our planet has grown by 10 cm, and a woman by 9.4 cm.

Have you noticed that you have become a little taller? It is quite possible, and it does not matter at all that you are not a teenager. The human body continues to amaze us! It turns out that he grows even into adulthood. For example, Philip Kirkorov has grown a few centimeters after 30 years.

  1. In each case, everything is individual - it depends on genetics, hormonal balance, lifestyle. Therefore, it is impossible to say for sure whether this or that man will grow up or not. At what age can growth be expected?
  2. For most men, this period falls on the age of 20 to 25 years, in some cases - up to 28. Well, of course, now we are not talking about childhood and adolescence, this does not count.
  3. Growth can increase not gradually, but sharply. For example, one year you did not notice any changes, and the next you became 2-3 cm taller. This is also individual and it is impossible to predict when and by how much you will become taller (if you become, of course).
  4. Why do males grow up to almost 30 years of age? This is due to hormonal changes. Women mature a few years earlier, but guys continue to develop. At this age, their figure is constantly changing, which is quite normal and natural.

Heredity is the main factor. No matter how much you hope for improvements, but if your parents are not tall, you are unlikely to be taller than them. Of course, you can perform special exercises, there are products that promote growth, but the result will be insignificant - no more than a couple of centimeters.

To what age do men grow?

As we have already said, this process can continue up to 30 years, in some cases, growth increases even after this age. You can help yourself and boost your growth with a few tricks:

  • Horizontal bar. Hang as often as possible on the horizontal bar, this exercise really works. Spend 10-15 minutes a day on this, it's easy to do - you need to hang on outstretched arms. This exercise has a positive effect on the spine, stretches it.
  • Stretching. There are many exercises to improve stretching and flexibility, do them daily. Such charging will not only accelerate growth, but also improve flexibility.
  • Proper nutrition. Remove all harmful foods from the diet, forget about smoking and alcohol. Eat plenty of legumes, nuts and seeds, grains, vegetables and fruits, lean meats and fish.
  • Vitamin complex. You may not have enough vitamins and minerals in your diet. We recommend drinking a vitamin complex regularly, you can buy it at any sports nutrition store.
  • Boosting testosterone - do strength training twice a week, forget about beer and other alcohol. We also recommend that you include foods that increase testosterone in your diet - fish oil, nuts, fish and seafood, fresh herbs, green and red vegetables and fruits.

You should not expect instant results, proper nutrition and exercise can reap the effect even after six months. That is why it is important not to give up and follow the regime for several years, it should become your way of life. In the end, exercise and quality food are good for the male body anyway.

If you are still unable to achieve an increase in height, we advise you to consult a doctor. It will help you choose drugs that will not harm your health and help you grow a little. Good luck!

About men's sizes

An interesting fact is that the size of a person, including height, depends on many factors and even on the place of residence. Probably, many people know that the inhabitants of China are significantly lower than the Europeans. And the Americans are bigger.

The size of a person can also depend on the hereditary factor: if everyone in the family is frail and undersized, one should not expect other results. The heir, most likely, will be the same in physique.

  • The size is also affected by the regime, and the diet, and the psycho-emotional state.
  • Well, probably the most important factor is the presence of growth hormone in the body.
  • Interestingly, scientists have proven that it is 80% released at night, so boys who do not get enough sleep can be significantly smaller than their peers.

About age

Exact figures indicating how many years men grow, scientists cannot isolate, because each organism is individual. But here are the averages. If girls grow up to about 20 years old, then boys have a couple more years to spare. According to scientists, men grow up to about 23 years of age. Peak growth in boys occurs at the age of 13 years.

At this time, the annual increase can be up to 10 cm! The growth of a man can also decrease over the years, this is associated with the aging process of the body.

  • So, from about the age of 60, the representatives of the stronger sex can gradually decrease.
  • In total, growth can become less by about 2-3 cm.
  • But it’s not worth getting hung up on information about how old men grow, because the world knows the facts when a person stopped growing at the age of 17, as well as those when changes in growth occurred even before the age of 40!

About sport

Understanding how old boys grow up, it is worth noting that you can influence the size of your own body while there is an opportunity for this.

So, up to the age of 20, a guy can “stretch out” on his own thanks to only “hanging” on the horizontal bar. Until this time, it is also easy to increase muscle volumes, because at an older age it is quite difficult to do this.

About the most important

Understanding the information about how old men grow, guys may be interested in such a delicate topic as the growth of their own dignity - the penis. What time frame should be targeted and is it possible to influence this indicator? It is worth noting that the male genital organ grows with the boy until about 23 years old.

Various factors can influence its size, but the most important of them are the hereditary factor, the level of testosterone (a specific hormone) in the body, and the quality of nutrition.

conclusions

When interested in information about how long men grow, it is worth considering many different factors that affect growth. But do not be upset if you don’t like the numbers, because this is not the main thing in life.

Periods of human development and growth

The human body grows unevenly. Jumps of rapid growth alternate with periods of calm. The fastest growth occurs during fetal development, because within nine months, a baby is formed from a pair of cells that can only be seen with a powerful microscope. In the first year of life, a person also grows very quickly: at this time, growth increases by about 20 centimeters.

The next jump is observed in adolescence: at 13-15 years old for girls and at 14-16 for boys.

  • It is easy to see this in the example of secondary school students: often, returning from vacation, classmates are surprised to note that over the summer almost all the girls “outstripped” the boys.
  • At the same time, within just one school year, boys can “outgrow” girls, because an increase in growth during this period of development can be up to 10-12 centimeters!
  • The growth spurt in puberty is associated with the restructuring of the hormonal system. When the hormonal background stabilizes, growth stops.

Some pretty interesting things happen next. Girls continue to grow slowly until the age of 21-22. As a rule, for female representatives, growth after 15 years practically stops and the increase can be a maximum of 2-3 centimeters. In young men, growth can last up to 30 years.

Of course, in rare cases, people continue to grow until the age of 40-50, and in some diseases, growth continues throughout life. However, the latter is considered a pathology and is associated with multiple disorders of various body systems.

What does growth depend on?

Human growth depends on a number of factors. The most important of these is heredity: tall parents usually give birth to tall children, and vice versa, if mom and dad are short, then the child will not be tall. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, for example, for parents of average height, a son or daughter can “outgrow” those around them by their heads.

However, in most cases, the reasons still lie in genetics and the child simply inherited the "growth gene" from the grandparents.

Human growth is also affected by the environmental situation, the quality of nutrition, the presence of intrauterine malformations and a number of other factors. Height may become smaller due to the presence of a genetic disease, such as dwarfism or Down syndrome. Also, growth retardation can be associated with diseases of the endocrine system: with Shereshevsky-Turner syndrome, girls do not produce female sex hormones, which are responsible not only for the formation of the reproductive system, but also for growth, therefore, usually in people with this disease, body length rarely exceeds 145 centimeters.

Racial factor

The growth rate of the body is affected not only by heredity, but also by racial characteristics. This is probably due to the fact that in each race the selection was based on unique criteria. For example, it has been proven that in southern countries people mature and grow to their "final size" at the age of 13-14 years. Perhaps the tradition of early marriages is connected with this, for example, in India, a girl is considered a bride, and a young man is considered a groom at the age of 14.

Indeed, the inhabitants of this country in adolescence are often already fully formed and have reached the limit of growth. In Europe, Russia and other Nordic countries, at the age of 14, a person is still considered a child and continues to grow.

What parts of the body grow throughout life

Most human tissues and organs stop growing after the end of the hormonal explosion that occurs during adolescence. However, there are some organs that can grow in size throughout life. And this applies to both men and women.

  • Noses and ears grow throughout life. It can be seen that in older people, the noses become long, fleshy and "hooked", and the ears are much larger than in young people. And usually only the earlobe grows.
  • The ability to grow does not lose hands and feet. However, only people who are actively involved in sports or physical hard work can notice an increase in their size.
  • Individual bones of the skull are also enlarged. In men, facial features change under the influence of testosterone, and in the representatives of the beautiful half of humanity, the appearance may change slightly during the bearing of a child.

Sometimes, organ growth can be associated with disease. For example, with the loss of one kidney, the second increases in size. The same thing happens when one testicle is removed in men. The process is connected with the fact that one organ has to perform a double load.

How can you increase your height

If desired, a person can slightly increase his height. True, you will have to try and make a lot of effort.

The following tricks will help you get a little higher:

  • exercise. It is especially important to stretch the spine. For a year of systematic training, you can become a couple of centimeters taller. True, it will not be possible to increase the length of the body more;
  • hang a horizontal bar at home. The more often you hang on it, relaxing, the better the spinal column will stretch;
  • Eat more foods that help strengthen bone and cartilage tissue. You should introduce more cottage cheese, dairy products, meat and legumes into your diet;
  • take vitamin complexes that help strengthen the skeleton;
  • The increase in height in men is promoted by the male hormone testosterone. An increase in testosterone is promoted by fish oil, nuts, fish, as well as green and red fruits. You should not take a synthetic hormone in the form of tablets: this can lead to unpredictable consequences for men's health.

For example, excessive use of testosterone can cause cancer.

When to expect results

You should not expect a quick effect from the above recommendations: you can notice an increase in growth after a year of regular exercise, taking vitamins and eating healthy food. True, you can cheat a little and try to become taller visually using the following methods:

  • stop hunching over. A twisted posture can "steal" up to five centimeters of height;
  • wear clothes with vertical stripes that visually “stretch” the silhouette;
  • buy shoes with thick soles;
  • girls can ask the hairdresser to give them a high haircut. A lush hairstyle allows you to become a little taller.

Of course, society dictates certain standards of beauty. Both men and women dream of becoming taller: “model parameters” and “appearance standards” force them to look for ways to add at least a couple of centimeters. However, it is better not to chase after the ideal and not to try to break your own nature, but to learn to love yourself as you are. After all, any person, both tall and short, is beautiful in his own way!

How old does a man grow?

His upward growth continues on average up to twenty, and for some young men it continues even further - up to 25 and even up to thirty years. At 20-25 years old, the last period of rapid growth occurs, when a person can add half a centimeter a year.

  • This signifies that the internal organs have finished forming, strengthened, compacted, and the rest of the resources for increasing the body were thrown into lengthening the skeleton.
  • After this “golden age”, when they say about a man that he is in the prime of life, and about a woman that she is “in the very juice”, the development of the organism in this regard stops.
  • In the question of how old a person grows, race and genetic inheritance play a key role. The period of puberty and the general formation of the body in the Negroid race of people who live in southern Asia passes somewhat earlier.

If European boys (especially in northern countries) at the age of 14 are still real children, then in India and on the African continent they are already fully formed young men. This applies even more to girls, with which the tradition of early marriages is connected. On the European continent, an earlier cessation of growth in the southern peoples and a more extended period of growing up in the northern peoples were also noticed.

Heredity

- also a decisive factor in how much a person grows. If both parents are tall and slim, then there is a 90% chance that their children will be taller than average. And, conversely, in short people and children grow up small. Of course, there is still 10%. What are these factors? Can we somehow influence them and, therefore, adjust our growth?

  1. Yes, because if you eat right and lead an appropriate lifestyle, then this, albeit slightly, can affect the length of the body.
  2. Knowing how old a person grows, you can add an extra centimeter or two that is not allotted by nature.
  3. By eating certain foods that help strengthen the bones of the spine and increase the elasticity of the intervertebral discs (cottage cheese, oily fish, aspic or jelly), you can increase body growth.

They also help to add special physical exercises that stretch the spine in the metric characteristics. But the influence of carrots on the aspiration of our body up turned out to be too exaggerated. Carrots have only a strengthening effect, like other fruits and vegetables.

growth hormones

An increase in the growth rate of a man at this age step is due to the fact that the formation and strengthening of internal organs and systems has been completed, and the body can throw all its efforts into “stretching” the body.

After this age, not a single organ of the human body, both female and male, increases in length (except for the ears and nose).

What determines the height of a man

During the period of intensive puberty, adolescents experience a number of profound changes of a somatic and mental nature. The beginning of this period is characterized by the appearance of pronounced secondary sexual characteristics, including an increase in the penis and testicles.

At the same time, short, mild erections and wet dreams begin to appear. The prostate gland and seminal vesicles, gradually starting to function, increase in size.

  • Secondary sexual characteristics in men also include the appearance of vegetation on the face, in the armpits and on the pubis, the nature of which has its own characteristics. On the pubis, the vegetation appears as a long, sharp wedge running towards the navel.
  • There are 3 stages of intensive human growth: the 1st year of life, 4-5 years, the period of puberty (puberty).
  • During these periods, all body systems work at full strength, so the adaptive capabilities of the child at this time are reduced - he gets sick more often, functional disorders of various organs and systems appear.

Bottom line - to what age does a man grow

Adolescence occurs later in boys than in
girls, aged 13-14. They very quickly add about 10 cm in height on average and continue to grow for years
up to twenty.

But it happens that young men reach their maximum height only to
30 years. What especially worries men during adolescence reaches
its maximum length at 17 years.

And, of course, the level of production of growth hormone (somatotropin) affects. Without it, no epiphyses will save :))

Average human height in Russia

Over the past century, the average height of Russians has increased. At present, the average height of a man in Russia is 176cm, and that of a woman is 165cm. . For comparison, according to the World Health Organization, in the 60s, the average height of men in the USSR was 168 cm, women - 157 cm.

The age to which a person grows inevitably also depends on heredity. This factor cannot be influenced, it is included in everyone's growth program. Heredity determines growth as a whole by 90%, and only the remaining 10% are external factors such as nutrition, ecology, etc. If a child has high mom and dad, then he will most likely be high. And vice versa. In general, people continue to grow until the age of 40. Only outwardly such changes are already almost imperceptible.

When growth stops

Why does a person grow and when does growth stop? Two factors influencing growth are known to all - these are genetic potential and nutrition in early childhood.

  • Tall parents tend to have taller children than shorter ones. This, however, is observed under the condition that children eat in general quite correctly.
  • Many scientists and doctors who study human growth and development have come to the conclusion that certain programs are inherent in each person by nature, including the “Growth Program”,
  • but, as shown by numerous observations, mainly in adults whose growth is below average, the mentioned program was not carried out. The slightest change in DNA can lead to an increase or decrease in height.

According to British and American scientists, a gene has been discovered that can explain differences in people's height. The discovered gene is called HMGA2. According to the theory of scientists, a person grows by 1 cm if one of the basic "letters" of the gene is changed.

At the same time, it cannot be argued that HMGA2 is completely responsible for human growth: there is a chance that other genes have their influence, but scientists have not yet discovered them. At the same time, it is known that our growth is determined by heredity by 90 percent, and only 10 percent of it is determined by ecology, nutrition and other external factors.

Intrauterine factors

They are also extremely important, since the most intensive growth occurs just during pregnancy. If during this period there is damage to the placenta and thus the nutrition of the fetus is disturbed, the child may be born with growth deficiency and low body weight.

  • From the first year of life until the cessation of growth, the endocrine system plays a leading role in the regulation of growth.
  • The growth of the skeleton and other organs is under the influence of growth hormone secreted by the pituitary gland, a small endocrine gland located at the base of the brain. The release of growth hormone is stimulated by the centers of the hypothalamic region of the brain.
  • For a long time it was unclear how growth hormone affects skeletal cells, stimulating their growth. It turned out that there is an intermediary on this path - insulin-like growth factor-1 produced by the liver and a number of other tissues, which has much in common with insulin in structure.

This factor is released under the influence of growth hormone and circulates in connection with a certain protein; the lack of one or the other affects the rate of growth.

But growth hormone is not the only growth regulator. The growth hormone antagonist somatostatin is also secreted in the body. Normal growth is maintained due to the balance in the release of these two hormones.

Thyroid

In addition to growth hormone, which is the main factor influencing growth, thyroid hormones and sex hormones are also important. The first years of a child's life are important, when the level of thyroid hormones is high. It is at this stage that hormones ensure the maturation and differentiation of bone tissue and the central nervous system.

A child is born with a large thymus gland.

  1. During childhood, it continues to increase, and at the age of 13 or 14 it begins to shrink. The thymus gland has a connection with the gonads. It works while the gonads are small. As soon as they begin to develop, the thymus stops its work.
  2. That is why, when a person finally matures sexually (at about the age of 22), he practically stops growing.
  3. Sex hormones accelerate growth, but with their excess in childhood, early closure of growth zones can occur. The child may be small. A lack of sex hormones during puberty leads to growth retardation.

At an older age, growth retardation can provoke any chronic disease - for example, intestinal absorption disorders, frequent bronchopulmonary infections, heart defects, liver dysfunction, kidney disease, anemia, etc. Therefore, we can say that height is a very sensitive index of a child's health. Growth retardation in most of these diseases is reversible - when the cause of the disease is eliminated, the rate returns to normal.

Despite the fact that generally accepted schemes and schedules provide for a stable gradual progress in body growth, most children grow in a completely different way - like jumps that alternate with pauses.

growth types

There are 3 stages of intensive human growth: the 1st year of life, 4-5 years, the period of puberty (puberty). During these periods, all body systems work at full strength, so the adaptive capabilities of the child at this time are reduced - he gets sick more often, functional disorders of various organs and systems appear.

  • In the case of a decrease in growth rates, the body seems to calm down, there is a gradual growth and development of internal organs.
  • During puberty, there is a growth spurt. In girls, it is observed at 11-12 years old, an increase in height is from 6 to 11 cm (an average of 8 cm per year). In boys, puberty occurs later, at the age of 13-14, and the increase in height during this period is from 7 to 12 cm (average 9.5 cm).
  • Girls usually by the age of 15 practically already have their final growth, that is, they stop growing, and boys at this age grow very intensively and reach their final growth only by the age of 19-20.

In fact, a person continues to grow a little even after the age of 25 and reaches his maximum height around the age of 35-40 years. After that, it decreases by about 12 mm every ten years. The reason for this is the dehydration of cartilage in the joints and spine as we age.

What determines the height of a man

First of all, it is heredity, or a genetic factor. If your parents are of average or short height (both or one of them), then it is unlikely that you will hit the ceiling with the top of your head. Although, maybe your pedigree includes people of grenadier height - then there is a chance that you will be like them.

How to increase height

Having a rough idea of those time stages when an increased development of the organism occurs, a number of steps can be taken to increase one's height. First of all, such measures include sports training aimed at stretching the spine. But do not force yourself and exercise through pain or come up with sets of exercises on your own - seek help from specialists. It is important to eat right - it is difficult to get the necessary amount of vitamins and minerals (in particular, calcium) from everyday food, so you should choose a vitamin complex and think over your diet more carefully.

Male question

Despite the assertion of many women that size is not the main thing, the most exciting question for many guys remains this - how many years will his penis grow. As a rule, the penis reaches its final parameters (in terms of volume and length) by the age of 17. Then, up to 25-27 years, there is a slight increase. It is believed that the penis grows throughout life, but scientists could not find enough men to track these indicators in dynamics over a sufficiently long period.

People come to us with these requests: how old does a man grow until how old do men grow until how old does a man grow until how old does a man’s body grow until how old does male organism grow

Human height is determined

  • Heredity. The height of a person is 90% dictated by genes. Therefore, it can be calculated even before the birth of the child.

Formula for boys: (father's height + mother's height × 1.08): 2;

Formula for girls: (father's height × 0.923 + mother's height): 2.

The result obtained (±5 cm) approximately corresponds to the expected height of an adult.

  • Hormonal status. First of all, growth hormone (somatotropin), which not only activates the formation of bone tissue, but also increases muscle mass, improves the functioning of the heart and central nervous system. The lack of somatotropin is always accompanied by growth retardation.
  • Proper nutrition. The growth of a child can be increased by 10% only due to rational nutrition.

It has been scientifically proven that the formation of growth hormone stimulates protein foods, and inhibits glucose. Therefore, in the diet of your child, cottage cheese, lean meat, eggs should be present daily, and he should receive sweets only on holidays. Growth is also affected by vitamins A (carrots, fish products, liver, fresh herbs), B (butter, milk, eggs, nuts, rye bread), calcium (dairy products) and phosphorus (fish).

  • Geographic environment, climate. The average height of the inhabitants of the northern countries is higher than that of the southerners. The highest on the planet are the inhabitants of the Netherlands (174.5 cm), and the lowest are the Maltese (164.9). Scientists have found that ultraviolet rays within reasonable limits accelerate the growth of a person, and the "solar" excess slows it down.
  • chronic diseases. It is no coincidence that height is called an indicator of a child's health. It slows down in many chronic diseases - anemia, impaired intestinal absorption, frequent bronchopulmonary diseases, heart defects, impaired kidney and liver function. In these cases, growth retardation is temporary and reversible - upon recovery, the child abruptly “goes up”.
  • The psychological state of the child. Researchers even have a special term - psychosocial short stature. With prolonged stress, the production of growth hormone decreases, and children do not grow well.

How to find out the growth prospects of a child?

You need to do an x-ray. If gaps (the so-called growth zones) are visible on the pictures - cartilage layers from which bones grow in length, an increase in growth is possible; if the layers are ossified, the growth zones are closed, and it is pointless to stimulate them.

How to increase height

1. Surgery

The essence of the method: the legs are broken and fixed for 12 months with a special apparatus.

pros: the only method that gives a 100% guarantee of increased growth.

Minuses:

  • prolonged stay in the hospital;
  • high risk of complications;
  • movement restrictions;
  • high price.

Result: increase in height by 5-10 cm.

2. Pharmacological method

The essence of the method: the appointment of hormonal drugs that stimulate bone growth.

pros: The treatment is outpatient and painless.

Minuses:

  • the risk of violation of the hormonal status of the body;
  • the effectiveness of the use of drugs is limited by age - tablets are used until the "growth zones" are closed.

Result: accelerated growth (10-12 cm per year) in the first two years of treatment.

3. Physical exercise, stretching

The essence of the method: dosed physical activity, stretching exercises, hanging on the horizontal bar strengthen bones and make metabolic processes more intense. Stretching exercises develop mobility in the joints, restore intervertebral discs.

pros: strengthening and improving the body.

Minuses:

  • unproven effectiveness;
  • it is easy to achieve an “overdose” (intense exercise and weight training) - growth slows down due to compaction of the intervertebral discs.

Result: a slight (3-5 cm) increase in height occurs due to the restoration of mobility in the joints, the correction of unnoticed curvature of the spine and the correction of posture.

By the way

Is it true that children grow up in their sleep? Is it true. Up to 70% of growth hormone is secreted at night. Therefore, sleep-deprived children tend to be stunted.

What age do people grow up to? An increase in growth is possible only until the closing of growth zones - on average 18-20 years. Girls grow up to 17-19 years old (peak growth occurs at 11 years old - at this age they stretch by 8.3 cm per year), boys - up to 19-21 years old (peak growth - 12-13 years old, increase - 9.5 cm per year). With age, growth decreases - by 60 years by 2-2.5 cm, by 80 - by 6-7 cm.

How old do men grow

There are rather blurred age boundaries that determine the time of growth of the human body: for men, this is a period from 20 to 25 years. However, it is impossible to answer this question precisely, since everything depends on the individual characteristics of the organism. It cannot be argued that throughout the entire period of development, the human body grows at a similar pace. It can be noted both periods of rapid growth and calm. For example, the first jump is observed even during the intrauterine development of the embryo: in nine months it goes from 2 cells to the whole organism. Also, the first year of a baby’s life is also marked by an increased growth rate: the weight on average increases from 5 to 10 kg (with development without anomalies), and the child himself grows by 15-20 cm.

After that, there is a period of calm, which is replaced by a hormonal explosion. As a rule, it is accompanied by a "stretching" of the body in length. In girls, this period occurs earlier than in boys, especially this difference is noticeable at the age of 13-15 years. In the literature, this period is called "adolescence".

The next stage of growth and development is called "youth" and, as you already understood, immediately follows adolescence. Girls go through all stages of growth more rapidly, and this process ends at about 20-22 years old, but for boys this period is extended to 25-27 years (and sometimes an increase in growth can be observed up to 30 years). The fact is that in this period the formation and strengthening of internal organs and systems is completed, and the body can throw all its efforts into “stretching” the body.

After this period, the human body no longer grows in length (except for the ears and nose).

First of all, the growth of the stronger sex depends on heredity. If the parents were of medium or short stature, then most likely you will not touch the ceiling with a dome.

Having an idea of the periods when the body develops intensified, you can make some efforts to increase your growth. First of all, these are measures aimed at stretching the spine. However, in no case should you force yourself and exercise through pain or come up with sets of exercises on your own, you need to seek help from specialists. In addition, you also need to eat right. It is difficult to get the required amount of minerals (especially calcium) from daily food, so you should choose a vitamin complex and more painstakingly comprehend the diet.

The development of the male reproductive system

The first signs of a young man's puberty are the appearance of pubic, armpit and chin hair. The voice also begins to grow rough, the penis increases, and the outline of the body becomes more masculine. Of course, during this period, all the guys ask themselves: until how many years will his sexual dignity grow? Of course, it all depends on the individual characteristics of the organism. Doctors say that the penis will grow as long as the body of a man is formed, this can continue up to 17 years and up to 30 years. Based on anatomy, then manhood changes its state (sometimes it grows, sometimes it becomes smaller) throughout the day. The size of the penis in a calm state depends on the cavernous bodies; during stress, the penis decreases. Cavernous bodies are spongy substances that are penetrated by many small blood vessels and cavities. They are sensitive to the action of substances in the blood, and also to the temperature of the surrounding air. When it decreases, the vessels of the penis narrow, resulting in a decrease in the amount of incoming blood, and accordingly, the size of the penis also decreases. But when the temperature rises, on the contrary, the opposite reaction occurs.

The optimal penis size in a calm state is 7-10 cm, and during an erection it can reach 18 cm. Many representatives of the stronger sex are worried about their penis, especially if it is too small. In fact, even the smallest penis can satisfy a woman, so don't worry about it. Many people buy miracle drugs to increase their penis. But today there are only two effective ways. The penis can be enlarged during surgery and when stretched with an expander. Each of these options is very painful and quite expensive.

The notion that women love more and more is a huge misconception. Any man who owns his body is able to attract the attention of a woman. This means that it does not matter at all until what age the development will continue, the main thing is to correctly use what nature has given.

Testosterone is extremely important in sexual development, because it determines the beginning of development and its end. First of all, you can increase the amount of testosterone in the male body with the help of proper nutrition, namely the enrichment of the diet with products that increase the amount of this substance in the body. It is very important that any products do not lie in the refrigerator for a long time, because with a long stay in the cold, useful substances are lost. It is advisable to add fish (trout, salmon, shrimp, perch and sardines), raw vegetables and fruits to your diet, especially those that are red and green, as they contain lutein: cabbage, apples, tomatoes. Parsley, celery, onions, spinach and arugula will also be useful for men's health. It is also recommended to use fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, wild strawberries) with cottage cheese. When preparing various dishes, you can use spices such as turmeric, curry, red pepper, as they suppress external phytohormones. Try to eat all foods that can be eaten raw. Meat is best steamed and, if funds allow, drink wine. And finally, while eating, try not to drink water with food, because this causes difficulties in metabolism.

Child growth: what does it depend on and what should it be?

All parents are interested in how tall the child will be when their baby grows up. Initially, the parameters are determined by nature, although sometimes other circumstances can also influence the growth parameters of children.

Since the issue of growth haunted parents at all times, over the years it has acquired a large number of different myths and legends. Some of them are very dubious, but there are those that have a right to exist.

In order to dispel various assumptions and guesses before you, we will try to list all the factors that can have an impact on the growth of a child.

What determines the growth of a child?

The future growth of a child depends on a number of factors, some of which are hereditary in nature, while others can change:

1. The growth of a child primarily depends on heredity.

Experts believe that height is a genetic parameter. However, the baby can go not only to parents, because he receives part of the hereditary information from his grandparents, and sometimes even from the most distant relatives.

2. If the expectant mother smokes during pregnancy, then, of course, this will slow down the growth of the child.

Tobacco smoke has a toxic effect on the child's body, prevents the flow of oxygen and nutrients that are needed for the harmonious development of the baby. This is due to the fact that nicotine reduces the lumen of the mother's blood vessels. It is for this reason that doctors advise women during pregnancy to refrain from smoking, and even better, to stop smoking altogether.

3. Boys are usually taller and larger than girls.

It is not at all necessary to be a major specialist in order to note the difference between the parameters of boys and girls: it was originally planned to make men the stronger sex, and women the weaker one. But until the age of 12-13 years, girls usually overtake boys in terms of growth, and then everything happens exactly the opposite.

4. After the transitional age ends, the child's growth process stops.

There are two main peak periods of human growth. The first such period of growth occurs at the age of up to 5 years, and, only in the first year of life, the baby grows by 25 cm. The second peak period of growth occurs during puberty, which usually begins at the age of 9-10 years and lasts until 13-14 years. During this period of time, girls manage to grow by 18 cm, and boys grow by 25 cm. But after the active phase, there comes a time of calm: boys and girls practically stop growing, although the skeleton continues to form up to 25 years.

5. The growth of children is monitored by both parents and specialists.

It is for the purpose of monitoring the growth of the child that pediatricians prescribe periodic examinations for babies: every month up to a year, every 3 months up to 2 years, 2 times a year up to 3 years.

If the growth of the crumbs differs significantly from the parameters of peers, then measurements are taken more often. In addition to this, the doctor monitors the relationship between the child's data and the average. The difference between them should not exceed 7 cm. If the indicators differ by 10-12 cm, then in this case it is necessary to consult an endocrinologist.

6. Intensive exercise in some sports interferes with the growth process of the child.

The growth of boys can be hindered by weightlifting, so they should be postponed until the period of puberty is over. Up to this point, swimming is much more useful for children, which relieves the load from the spine and allows the skeleton to develop correctly.

7. Children grow up in their sleep.

Experts say that the brain produces growth hormone in the first half of the night, when the deep phase of sleep. However, for the harmonious development of preschool children, it is very useful to sleep not only at night, but also during the daytime. In addition to inhibition of the growth process, due to lack of sleep in young children, psycho-emotional disorders can begin.

How tall will the child be?

In order to calculate how tall a child will be, there are a great many mathematical formulas that every family can find on the Internet. However, among this variety, only one of them really deserves attention.

In order to find out what height exactly your child will reach, add up the height of mom and dad in centimeters, divide the resulting value by 2, then add 5 (for a boy) and subtract 5 (for a girl). For example, mom's height is 160 cm, and dad's height is 186 cm. Most likely, their son will grow to 178 cm: (160 + 186): 2 + 5, and their daughter will grow to 168 cm: (160 + 186): 2-5.

Why are some people excessively tall and others short? What influences human growth? Who is the shortest person in the world? This will be discussed in the article.

Factors affecting human height

What determines human growth? Nature has awarded all people with various physical features. Some of these features change over time, some persist for life. For example, weight, hair length can change significantly over time. But the color of the eyes, the color of the skin, not taking into account exceptional cases, remain unchanged throughout the entire life of a person. Human growth over a long period was one of the most inconsistent signs.

What determines human growth? Many factors influence the amount of growth. Most scientists give the greatest importance to genetic dependence. It is natural that physically tall parents are less likely to have children of small stature, and vice versa. Living conditions are also a factor influencing the size of the human body. Prosperous people, who are in more favorable conditions, according to statistics, are taller than the poor, whose diet includes less quality products, work is often exhausting, and the likelihood of various diseases is higher.

Main cause of dwarfism

People who go beyond normal growth - dwarfs and giants - are found in exceptional cases and are pathological phenomena, especially the first ones. The cause of dwarf growth is considered to be germinal rickets, which prevents the normal development of the body. The main cause of nanism or dwarfism is a violation of the secretion of growth hormone by the pituitary gland. People with this syndrome have a short stature: for men no higher than 130 cm, for women no more than 120 cm, while the average height of an adult is 165 centimeters. In men, this pathology is much more common than in women.

The difference between a dwarf and a midget

Although the words dwarf and midget are usually associated with people of small stature, there is a difference between these two concepts. Dwarfism as a phenomenon is associated with an acquired disease of the pituitary gland. Whereas midgets inherit pituitary insufficiency. Dwarfs are usually proportionately built and look normal. However, among such people there are also people with a disproportionate physique. Due to a violation of the secretion of thyroid hormones, they have a slowdown in mental and physical development. In addition, they have a predisposition to chronic diseases.

Lilliputians on our planet are an extremely rare occurrence. In total, according to statistics, there are 800 of them. Lilliputians reach 40-90 centimeters in height. Their body proportions are harmonious, they are somewhat reminiscent of children. Often these people work in a circus or at a fair. And now it's time to talk directly about people who are recognized as the smallest in the world.

The shortest man on earth

Chandra Bahadur Dangi was a native of Nepal. His height is 54.6 centimeters. He was born in a small village and never went to the doctors. People didn't know anything about him until he was seventy-three years old. Despite his height, Chandra Bahadur Dangi was an active and cheerful person. Travel was his dream. All his life, the lowest man in the world worked honestly, having mastered the profession of a weaver. One can only marvel at his humility and patience. When Chandra Bahadur became known to mankind as the lowest person on the entire globe, he was still able to fulfill his old dream - to see many countries of the world. This man died in September 2015 in hospital from pneumonia.

One of the smallest people on the planet

The smallest adult in 2010 was Magar Khagendra Tapa, whose height was only 67 centimeters. He was born in Nepal on October 14, 1992. The inhabitants of his village called the midget the little Buddha. Magar Khagendra Tapa has always remained a positive and cheerful person, and his growth did not affect these human qualities. The family loves Magar Khagendra very much, they support him in every possible way, and he, in turn, treats his height with his characteristic sense of humor. He has a sixteen-year-old brother, whose name is Ashoka.

The shortest man in the world talks with a smile about his relationship with his smaller brothers. A cat lives in his family, which recognizes its little owner. But there were problems with street dogs - Khagendra was vaccinated against rabies more than once.

Magar Khagendra, like his relatives, is a very religious person. Together with his brother and father, he visits the Tal Barahi temple, which is located on an island near Lake Phewa. When the electricity is turned off in his village in the evening, Magar likes to retire, light a candle and think about something known only to him. The life of people like him is rarely long. Few Lilliputians live past forty.

Little record holder

Junri Baluing was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the smallest living person. He is 55.8 centimeters (22 inches) tall. He is 12 centimeters shorter than the previous record holder Magar Khagendra Tapa. Personally, Junri considers himself the proud owner of the title of the shortest man in the world and is proud of it. He was 18 years old, and for the first time in his life he tasted beer.

His plans, as he himself says, include finding himself a beautiful wife among the tall ones. Junri's parents admiringly say that thanks to their son, the whole large family will become famous. The little record holder has a brother and sister who fit the category of normal healthy children. His illness began to manifest itself from childhood. But Junri Baluing's family did not have the means to prevent genetic mutations complicated by additional diseases. Doctors in this situation could only offer vitamins.

tiny indian

Born in India, Jyoti Amji was born in Nagpur on December 16, 1993. On the day of majority, her height was 62.8 centimeters, and her weight was 12 kilograms. Achondroplasia - such a diagnosis was made by Jyoti when she was still a very young child. This kind of dwarfism is incurable.

In 2012, the young girl was listed in the Guinness Book of Records. Jyoti Amji was recognized as the smallest woman on the planet. The certificate she received allowed her to travel extensively. In Japan and Italy, she met other Guinness World Record holders. These days, photos of a little Indian woman are easy to find on the Internet.

Jyoti's perspective is to get an education and dedicate his future to cinema. She dreams of getting into the pictures of Bollywood. Everything in Jyoti's life is adapted to her size - the small bed in which she sleeps, the dishes in the kitchen. Today, a young girl is very popular in her city. She has appeared in some television shows, in addition to this, the National Geographic channel made a documentary about her life.

The life of dwarfs and midgets in modern society

Since the late Middle Ages and up to the present day, dwarfs and midgets have often been very revered people. This was determined by the fact that the powers that be, kings, kings, emperors and nobles, loved to attract people with some physical disabilities to their court. But the modern world, exposing a kind of rigid standards, stereotypes of beauty, has created an insurmountable gap between small people and people of normal growth.

Often, people like dwarfs and midgets are forced to face a number of everyday life problems. However, there are examples of small people who have achieved a lot. One of these can be called the popular American film actor Peter Hayden Dinklage, familiar to us from the sensational TV series Game of Thrones. Of course, he is not the lowest person in the world, but a professional in his field, in addition, a worthy husband and father of two children - these are the small achievements of a person that make up his happiness.

Introduction

At all times, people were interested in the question of human growth. People asked themselves: Why does a person grow? How does a person grow? What helps you grow faster?

We are interested in this topic because I am small and want to know if I can grow big.

The object of research is a person throughout his life.

The subject of the study is human growth.

The goal is to study the problem of human growth and ways to influence it.

To achieve this goal, the following tasks were defined:

1. Study the issues of human growth.

2. Investigate the causes that affect a person's height.

3. Conduct an experiment confirming the positive effect of carrots on human growth.

How does a person grow?

All living things grow and develop. What is growth?

The height of a person or the length of a person's body is the distance from the apex of the head to the plane of the feet.

The entire human body is made up of a huge number of different, microscopically sized cells. So what do cells have to do with human growth? The cells in the body multiply and therefore the human body grows. In the human body, there are several glands that are responsible for the growth of the body. The brain instructs these glands to multiply cells, and the glands, in turn, give the same command to the entire body. The thyroid gland secretes the hormone calcitonin. And another gland - the pituitary gland - secretes growth hormone - somatotropin. Growth hormones move through the body with the blood. People whose pituitary gland produces little growth hormone for some reason grow up as dwarfs. Conversely, if the pituitary gland produces a lot of growth hormone, a person grows very tall.

The development of every human being begins in the mother's belly. Organs gradually grow and develop, the fetus increases in size. With the birth of a child, the growth process does not stop, although it gradually slows down from year to year. So, if up to a year children grow by 23 cm, then in the second year of life their height increases only by 10 cm. In subsequent years, the growth rate becomes less and less.

But there is another period when the rate of growth increases strongly. This is preadolescent growth acceleration. In girls, it begins at the age of 10, and reaches its maximum by the age of 12. At this age, girls add up to 8 cm in height per year. In boys, preadolescent growth acceleration begins at 12 years of age, and reaches a maximum by 14 years of age: up to 10 cm per year. After that, growth gradually slows down and usually stops completely by the age of 18.

Some human organs grow throughout life, some stop their development at a certain point. For example, hair and nails grow throughout life and continue to grow even for some time after a person's death. But if we talk about human growth, then the growth process in a healthy person stops at about 16-19 years old for women and at 18-20 years old for men. Some people stop growing earlier, at 15, for example, and a small proportion continue to grow until age 25.

Starting from the age of 50, a slow decrease in human height can be observed, by about 1 cm every 10 years. This decrease is usually associated with shortening of the spine due to its curvature and aging.

At any age, you can observe a change in growth during the day. In the evening, growth always becomes somewhat less than in the morning, and during the night it is restored to its previous value. This is due to the daily load on the spine. The difference between daytime and evening growth can be up to 1.5 cm.

Is it possible to know how tall a child will be when he grows up? There is a formula for calculating growth. In order to find out how tall a person will be, you need to add the height of mom and dad, divide the resulting amount in half.

Then, if it concerns the son, add 6.5 cm, and if the daughter subtract 6.5 cm.

Let's calculate how tall my sister and I will be when we become adults.

The height of the boy is determined by the formula: R m \u003d (R dad + R mom): 2 + 6.5 cm

And the height of the girl is determined by the formula: R d \u003d (R dad + R mom): 2 - 6.5 cm

These are only approximate figures, which may vary within 10 cm.

What influences human growth?

Human growth is determined primarily by heredity. Tall parents are more likely to have tall children. But short parents have short children. But that doesn't always happen.

As scientific studies have shown, many people do not grow to the height laid down by heredity. What's stopping you from being taller? Lack of sleep, past illness, trauma, lack of vitamins, inflammatory processes - all this can disrupt the proper development of the child's bone skeleton. One of the most serious enemies of the development of nicotine. Nicotine is a harmful substance found in cigarettes.

If a child does not smoke himself, but constantly inhales tobacco smoke when his parents smoke, his growth may slow down significantly. And then this will be the reason why the child grows poorly. It is worse if the son or daughter adopts this bad habit. Nicotine has a bad effect on the glands, causes vasospasm, inhibits metabolic processes in the body, because of this, the nutrition of the skeletal system worsens.

Arguing with genes is a thankless task. Nevertheless, adding a couple of centimeters to the program laid down by nature is quite realistic.

In order for the genetic potential of a person to be realized, good nutrition is necessary. This does not mean a set of expensive and delicious foods, but a balanced set of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, and so on.

Many parents do not even suspect how close they are to the truth when they tell their children: "Eat well - you will grow big!". It is clear that for growth, that is, for the construction of new cells and tissues of the body, building material is needed - proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

In order for the child to complete his growth program, you need to include as many fresh vegetables and fruits as possible in his diet, biological substances are better preserved in them. Animal products (meat) contain essential substances necessary for the development of bones and joints. And in cereals and black bread there are a lot of minerals needed by cartilage tissue. But the leader in stimulating growth in length is carrots. It is rich in carotene, which in the human body turns into vitamin A, the main engine of growth. It is found in spinach, lettuce, sorrel, herbs, tomatoes, sweet peppers and rose hips. Vitamin A in its pure form is butter, whole milk, egg yolk, liver. Vitamin D is also responsible for bone growth, which is absorbed especially quickly under the influence of the sun.

In addition to good nutrition, you need to actively engage in sports. Physical activity stimulates the production of growth hormone - somatotropin and makes the body grow faster. Daily physical activities (running, swimming, cycling, football, volleyball, tennis) contribute to the activation of growth zones.

3. Experiment.

As already mentioned, the leader in stimulating growth in length is carrots. It is rich in carotene, which in the human body turns into vitamin A, the main engine of growth. We decided to do an experiment and see if eating carrots every day actually promotes growth.

For the experiment, we measured my height on January 30, 2013. It was -1 m 24 cm. Then for 3 months I ate fresh carrots in the morning and evening. On May 1, 2013, we again measured my height, which this time was 1 m 26 cm. It turns out that in three months I grew by 2 cm. If this number is divided by 3 months, it turns out that on average I grew by 6 .5 mm per month.

To determine if I grew faster during the experiment, we calculated the average increase in my height over the past year. We took the data of my measurements from the medical record. In February 2011, I was 1 m 14 cm, and in April 2012 - 1 m 21 cm. It turns out that in 14 months I grew by 7 cm. Thus, on average, I grew by 5 mm per month.

If we compare the numbers obtained, it turns out that during the experiment I grew faster. And the reason for this phenomenon was the daily consumption of carrots.

Conclusion.

The most important forces that cause growth are contained within a living being from the moment of its inception. These forces are called heredity.

Nevertheless, adding a couple of centimeters to the program laid down by nature is quite realistic.

In order for the genetic potential of a person to be realized, good nutrition is necessary. Especially important are foods rich in carotene and vitamin A. As has been proven during the experiment, such foods accelerate growth.

In addition to good nutrition, you need to actively engage in sports. Physical activity contributes to human growth.

If you want to know the height of a child, look at his mom and dad. In most cases, it is their genes that determine how tall a person will be. However, a number of factors can affect the genetically programmed growth program. As a result, about 5% of children do not grow well, frightening their parents and forcing them to seek medical attention.

Most noticeably, babies grow in the first year of life: by about 25 cm. By the age of two, they gain another 8-12 cm, by three - 7-8 cm, then the growth rate is 4-6 cm per year. Record the growth of your heir about once a year at the same time. Whether the growth is normal can be most accurately found out by the so-called central tables that all pediatricians and other pediatricians have. They also lie on the Internet, but without the appropriate knowledge it is difficult to understand them. However, if a child grows less than 4 cm per year after 4 years, this is really a cause for concern.

FOR LOVERS OF CALCULATIONS

There are formulas that allow you to calculate the genetically based growth of your child. However, their error is quite large - 5-10 cm.

Girls \u003d (father's height in centimeters + mother's height in centimeters) / 2 - 6.5 cm.

Boys = (father's height in centimeters + mother's height in centimeters) / 2 + 6.5 cm

GENES AND FACTORS

Growth can be affected by health problems. For example, chronic diseases of the respiratory system, heart and blood vessels, gastrointestinal tract, hormonal disorders. Regular intake of drugs containing glucocorticosteroid hormones (for example, to relieve asthma attacks) also slows down growth.

It happens that babies who were born with a weight and height below the norm grow poorly. Despite the care of parents and proper nutrition, 10% of these children, even after 4 years, lag behind their peers. A similar delay may occur in those children who have one of the parents below 160 cm. Just don't panic! In most children, doctors find only the so-called constitutional growth retardation. There is no pathology, but the child remains the smallest in the class for a long time. As a rule, in such children, puberty begins later - at the age of 14-16: in this way, nature prolongs their growth time. As a result, they usually reach their norm without any treatment, although they are unlikely to become really high. More often this option is found in boys whose parents, especially fathers, at one time grew up just as slowly.

VISIT TO THE ENDOCRINOLOGIST

Growth hormone (GH) is responsible for growth in the human body. Sex hormones and the thyroid gland, insulin are also important, however, in relation to growth, they are active only in the presence of a normal level of growth hormone. It turns out that a deficiency of one or more of the listed hormones or an excess of adrenal hormones entails growth retardation and without appropriate treatment, the matter will not move forward.

Fortunately, endocrine growth retardation is detected in less than 1% of children whose parents complain about it. A real lack of growth hormone leads to nanism, or dwarfism, then boys grow no more than 140 cm, girls - up to 130 cm. The sooner parents turn to an endocrinologist and get an appointment for GH injections, the more likely that a small patient will grow to an average height or even higher. Moreover, if the first child was diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency, and the parents are planning a second one, in most cases the second child does not repeat this hormonal problem.

BONE AGE

Bone (biological) age shows whether the growth and general development of bones corresponds to how many years and months a child is. This is a more accurate indicator than height or body weight. In the bones of children there are so-called growth zones, due to which the skeleton can increase. These growth zones gradually close by the end of puberty, the skeleton ossifies and growth stops. Bone age allows doctors to understand how long the child will grow, whether it is necessary to look for hormonal pathology or there is no reason for this. True, even in healthy children, the deviation of bone age from the real one can be up to 3 years.

ALL IN OUR HANDS…

Now we come to the most interesting: the growth factors that parents can influence on their own. What's next?

  • First of all, food. In order for a child to grow, the body needs everything necessary to build, first of all, long-tubular bones, as well as muscles, teeth, skin and other tissues and organs. The building blocks are amino acids, which can only be obtained from a complete protein. Therefore, 60% of protein foods should be dairy products, eggs, fish, poultry, meat - in general, animal products. Make sure that they are not very fatty, as fat inhibits the production of growth hormone.
  • Plant foods should make up 40% of the diet. First of all, we are talking about cereals. Legumes are also good, but they often create digestive problems, and milk and meat are still no substitutes. Vegetarianism and observance of religious fasts for children is unacceptable! As well as fast food, semi-finished products such as sausages and sausages: there is almost no complete protein.
  • Carbohydrates provide energy for growth, but they must be obtained from the same cereals and grain dishes. Sweets that do not contain fiber also slow down the production of growth hormone! Therefore, instead of sweets, it is better to buy fruits. By the way, non-crushed cereals (buckwheat, millet, pearl barley, etc.) just increase the synthesis of the necessary growth hormone.
  • Vitamins and minerals are also important for growth. This is primarily about vitamin D, the lack of which develops rickets. Now the recommendations of doctors are to give it to all children in a prophylactic dose, about 10 micrograms per day.
  • Don't forget calcium and iodine. The first, lying on a protein matrix, is introduced into the bones, increasing their volume and strength. The second is part of the thyroid hormones, which without it will be missed. Therefore, at 6-10 years old, children should receive 800-1200 mg of calcium and 150 micrograms of iodine per day. And teenagers - 1200-1500 mg of calcium and 200 micrograms of iodine. The best source of calcium is cottage cheese, but you can't eat that much, so about half of the calcium should be taken in tablets. Another option is foods fortified with calcium. As for iodine, only those who live by the sea get enough of it: drinking water and seafood are rich in iodine there. Iodized salt is not enough, so iodine supplements are another essential for growth.
  • In addition to nutrition, the general regimen of the day is important: the child should receive adequate emotional and physical activity and at the same time have a good rest. Then you don't have to worry about his growth.

ALLERGY? A SMART APPROACH

There are more and more children with severe allergies to many foods at once. Pediatricians and allergists often advise them to eat extremely monotonous meals like "rice, cauliflower and rabbit meat." However, after a year or two, such food shows a lack of minerals, vitamins, polyunsaturated fatty acids, and sometimes protein. Look for a middle ground: it may be worthwhile to endure, for example, moderate skin rashes, but give the child a full meal. Recall that a full-fledged one does not mean fast food stuffed with flavors and preservatives, but unusual types of meat, fish, vegetables, etc.

DREAM IN GROWTH

Does your child love surfing the Internet at night? For the sake of high growth, it will have to be abandoned. 70% of growth hormone is produced between 22 and 24 hours, and only during deep sleep. It turns out that at this time, both the baby and the teenager should not just go to bed, but see the tenth dream - that very deep one. At the same time, studying the luminous screen of a smartphone, tablet or computer before going to bed reduces the depth of sleep, so that the production of growth hormone will again turn out to be truncated. Explain to the younger members of the family that up to 12-14 years old you need to sleep for at least 10 hours, for teenagers - at least 8, but at the same time it is useless to do this during daylight hours!

OH SPORT!

Any physical activitythat the child likes and does not force to overstrain helps to grow. True, it is rather difficult to single out those that really stimulate growth. Traditionally called sports where you have to jump and reach up and forward: basketball, volleyball, swimming, badminton, high jump and long jump. It is also believed that wrestling and weightlifting inhibit growth.

HUG ME, MOM!

"Psycho-emotional short stature" - dwarfism, the cause of which is by no means a deficiency of growth hormone, but a bad atmosphere in the family. First of all, this applies to dysfunctional families, where no one cares about the child's nutrition, his emotions and horizons. Nevertheless, even in seemingly prosperous families, where the child does not feel loved and needed, his growth may slow down.

UP TO 16 AND OLDER

The individual growth program for each person has its own characteristics, but there are still general patterns. On average, men grow up to 18-22 years, and women - up to 15-19 years. After 25 years, men sometimes have a slight increase in height - up to 2 cm. In general, in adulthood, those who have puberty with some delay grow more often.
